Born in Ala Mhigo 25 years ago, Arcavius is no stranger to struggle. At 5 years old, his family fled out of Ala Mhigo to escape the Garlean invasion. His father died as a result of the struggle. Not knowing where else to turn, his mother found solace with other refugees in Thanalan. After remarrying, his mother had 3 additional sons with his new step-father, whom Arcavius loved very much. His step-father recently became very ill and died. Being the eldest son, Arcavius's mother turned to him for support. Sending him into Ul'dah to look for better paying work to support the family.
Arcavius has always known that he has been blessed with the ability to cast magic. His father being one of the Fists of Rhalgr always dreamed of his son joining the ranks as he got older. With his untimely death, his mother made it her mission to ensure that her son go down that path. When Arcavius would exhibit magical tendencies, they would quickly be quashed as undesirable. Never allowing him to study further in his natural talents - she pushed him toward the path of bare-handed combat. He failed miserably at it - try as she might to push him.
Upon entering Ul'dah - Arcavius saw an opportunity to secretly train as a Thaumaturge. He picked up Mining as a cover to show his mother that he was working for the family - but would never dream of telling her about his study of magic. As he traveled throughout Eorzea, he discovered Arcane magic and Conjury - expanding his study even further and discovering his true power of channeling aether.
