↗Is it a bit overrated? I did not see much of it when I was a kid, and I grew up essentially on Spider-Man, so did not have any nostalgia glasses trying it out. Maybe I was expecting a bit too much seeing how people praise it, but after watching first 2 episodes it was kind... Meh?..
Not bad necessarily, I definitely like the art style and the noir approach. At the same time it felt like it was not leaning as much into noir as it could, and instead tried to be funny too much. Aside from "I toss butlers" joke the humor landed flat in front of me. Probably was not as bad as in Ghostbusters, but still. Or maybe it just does not mesh as well in my head: I do expect some goofiness in Ninja Turtles, but Batman comics that I've read (which are far fewer than any Marvel comics, to be honest), kind of taught me to expect a more serious, if not "adult" tone.
Of course, I understand, that it was still aimed at kids, even despite nods towards adult topics, that became memes. I also understand that at the time it probably still was great show. Maybe some specific episodes are just amazing, too... But not enough free time for me to get through them. I will be giving a chance to other series in DCAU, though.
