Either it did not age that well or I got spoiled too much.
I did not really intend to play the game. I played the original, back when it was released, and that one was fine. At least at the time. It was not as good as the first game, but it was still decent. But 2K decided to add Steam cards to the game, so I thought, that I could replay it. After an hour or so, I knew I won't be finishing it, and will remove after getting the cards.
It's not because the fonts are for like 720p, even when using 4K resolution. It's not somewhat weird controls on gamepad (especially melee, but can I not reload here?). It's the narrative. Not the story as a whole, I remember it for the most part, and for the most part it was fine. Again, not as good as first game, but not bad overall.
But the way the game starts, the way it introduces you to Vito, to Joe, to this whole world... It's just bad. It's extremely rushed, poorly directed, and almost emotionless. Considering, that Vito participated in a literal war, and we even had control over him during one of the episodes in that war, why isn't there much... Drama? Or maybe not drama, but weight? And some interactions felt cringy even. Outdated graphics (even though with somewhat improved lightning) do not help either.
Don't remember what I thought about the beginning of the game 14 years ago. Maybe it was fine for me back then, maybe I forced myself through it for some reason. But today, I have too much other games to play so won't be tolerating this one.
