I feel like the first episode (the one that was "0") was a waste, it did not add much beside an emphasis on romantic relationship. But it's clear from the "actual 1st episode", that there will be flashbacks, so those could have been used instead, and they could have build more tension in this episode, at least. If they would have dropped the polyamory part. Anime description does suggest, that this may be an important part of the story, but not sure such big focus was needed in the first episode.
Overall, it's unclear what this will become yet. I guess it will be a travelling anime? And perhaps most episodes will be kind-of standalone, but always utilize the Black Rock Shooter-like cannon at the end. Look cool, and gory in places, as well, but not really feeling the story thus far.
