Kind of meh, to be honest. I think the characters have even less chemistry than those in Solo Camping. Maybe it will appear a bit later, but I somehow doubt it. Giving it a chance for now, though.

I liked 2nd episode much more than the 1st one. It had solid progression for both characters separately and for their relationship. But now that it's been established that they like each other, what will be the hook going forward? Hiding the relationship from everyone? A tournament between schools, that will make the schools make up and co-exist?

On separate note, is this a prequel to Horimiya? There is a guy with the bangs, who looks a lot like Miyamura (before the haircut) and is voiced by same actor. Rintaro also sounded familiar, reminding me of Legoshi from Beastars, but turned out it's a different actor (but Legoshi is present in this anime as well).

Episode 4:

I get it why the internet is raving. Men don't hear thanks that often, so this is like a dream. A fantasy.

Episode 9:

Somehow I related to the mother more than to Rintaro this episode, even though I don't have kids. Perhaps, because I did not have a mother like that? Not like there are no good memories or anything like that, but in similar situations it was (or would have been, at least) "it's your own fault for not having friends" or "it's your own fault for being who you are".

I do not think I had moral support for the sake of "persevering till someone sees you for who you are". I guess, maybe if that support was also in some small ways, like in the episode, but those small things would definitely be overpowered by periodic verbal (and physical) abuse.

When I saw the mother hearing her son sharing his past, and being accepted, as well as her memory of how she dyed her hair and pierced her ears to support her son in the past, even though she did not really have to... Knowing the struggles that I have with connecting to people and even being understood by people, the feeling of relief that I would have felt in her shoes would be... Overwhelming.

Episode 13:

Last episode in a nutshell:

Your son

Overall, this anime is fine, very sweet. I think it was a bit overhyped, but I can see why that was the case, too: no drama, no constant misunderstandings, just wholesomeness. This is, indeed, rare nowadays.
