I can understand the hype. Yamada in her "rocker" look is definitely my type. Smoking is not my thing, but I can see how it works more as an excuse for the rather wholesome interactions. But essentially this is teasing anime. And teasing is present because the guy has severe face blindness. At least, Clark Kent's glasses were told to have some kind of tech that was disrupting the light or whatever. But anyway, not my genre, even though I would not mind a Yamada of my own.
